I have just started year 12 and want to get into medicine .
I know to get into medicine you need an atar of 99.95
What if I got a lower atar like 96 can I get into medicine another way ???

Do a medical science or any other degree. Then do post grad med at USYD.

But yeah UWS is the way to go. If you're GWS student, you need 93.5 - somewhere around there

Maybe looking into interstate university, like JCU has an ATAR in the 90s, but you still need to perform well in UMAT

If you get really good UMAT and interview results, you can afford a lower atar in some cases.

In addition to these ^ if you're for some reason set on USYD (which you don't need to be for medicine) , USYD only has a 99.5 atar(estimated for 2015) requirement if you do Music/MD double degree. (good luck though as it requires an audition on top of the usual medicine interview).

Of course.
Usyd undergraduate's cutoff is 99.95 but there are many other universities that do not require 99.95.
The cutoff for unsw is 96(with median of 99.6 due to popularity).
Not sure about other universities but if you truely want to do medicine, its possible if you put in the required effort.
I want to get into unsw :( good luck to you!!

lol yes. I wish i knew in year 12 that umat is actually x1000 more important than your atar for med admission. Atar is a hurdle in a lot of universities.

An ATAR of 99.95 is only necessary for USYD. For the majority of universities, ATAR is merely a threshold (although you should strive for 99+ for a good chance at all universities). UMAT is more important since almost all universities will use that to rank you (after passing the ATAR threshold).

Undergrad med at unsw/monash is really hard to get into. You need a good atar and a good umat, then perform well at the interview. Tbh if you're aiming for one of them exclusively, save your soul and go for pstgrad. If you're happy to trek out to newcastle/une/uws (which are good unis for med), you need much lower marks.

In addition, the calibre of postgraduate doctors stomps undergraduate doctors.
Yeah...No. All the graduates are pretty even no matter where they come out of.
