The title is self explanatory, but I'm a little worried about my creative/essay and my ability to adapt it in time. Would this be too much to write and adapt in 45 mins? My writing speed varies due to hand pains and stuff (I have special provisions, 5 min break/30 mins)

Personally, I can only do around 700 words for creative usually, but then I don't give this section the full 40 minutes. It really depends on the person, but if I were you I'd have one paragraph that wasn't plot integral that could be cut if I was running out of time :)

Depends how long you are spending on the remaining section?

Should use a battery pen. It significantly improved my writing speed

Both of mine are like that, I usually smash creative out in 32/33 mins so it can be done :)

Yeah same, i usually do 700-800 moulded to the question and stimulus in 25-30 mins, to have some additional time for essay.

How the hell do you write 1100 words in 32/33 mins? :O

typingtimtam probably has a shorter creative, ~ 800 words or something.
@OP I personally prefer to have a shorter creative of about 700-800 words to leave myself some room to incorporate the question but if you're confident your creative nails down everything they could possibly ask, then go ahead.

Yeah, for some reason I can do a 1000 words in 35mins for creative but 1000 in 40 mins for essays

I can do it, it's pretty easy. You just practice writing it beforehand then mould it to the question, it actually is 1100 words, no joke.

If you have 45 minutes to write 1100 words, then that is definitely doable. (you might even have time to check your work!)
But I thought you get 40? :/

Quality first, someone only had 900 words and obtained full marks for his essay.

They're probably confident they can knock off comprehension easily? That's my game plan too.
Use reading time for comprehension, planning on finishing comp in 30-35 mins then take my 5 min rest to ponder on the essay/creative questions , then get straight to work.

Benefits of provisions

I'm aiming for quality too! It's just that I just can't succinct my work too much or it loses a lot of content :(

Extremely hard to pull off though due to the lack of detail/analysis. My tutor who has produced several state rankers, mentioned how they had the innate ability to write fast, usually pumping out 1.5k words.

Yeah, all my essays bar hamlet which is 930 words are around 840 words. I got 15/15 for belonging 18 mod A, 19 mod B and 20 Mod C. Succinctness and originality of ideas is key.

Oh and also, I should note that I make up my creative in the exam. So if I had memorised my creative I might be able to do a little more than 700; 800 maybe?

If you memorise you should be able to write more!

If you haven't gathered by now that I'm the most pathetically lazy English student on this planet you're too nice. If I can get 14 in trials with a made up creative, I seriously could not be bothered to put in all the extra work to get 15 in the HSC.
