I'm confused about this...
Say you get an Extension 2 final mark of 95 vs a General mark of 95 if you were doing that instead... Since after scaling they're both the same what's the point of doing Extension 2? The extra difficulty compared to General isn't worth it then...? Or does it contribute to your atar by a different amount or something...

contributes to the atar differently. 95 in 4U will probably get an agg of 48+/50 and 95 in general maybe 40-/50

lol I'm pretty sure OP doesn't understand aggregates.

Lol op it is more beneficial to even get 80 in 4 unit than 95 in general because 4 unit aligns well and it pushes up your atar.
If all subjects were like that then people would choose business, cafs, hosp, drama, dance, standard English and get 99.95 atar.
That's why usually if you want a high atar you look at your subject choice because certain subjects will push your atar up eg chem, 3 unit 4 unit, advanced engrish, latin ext, phys, eco

Haha nope. I'm doing Extension 2 and would do 10 unit maths if it was offered :p It's just that no one explained this to me before...

99 in general scales down to 90. Just think about that. That's more then enough to see why.

The fact is those marks of 95 are NOT after scaling.
