Yes you have a really good internal rank for English, but you have 50% remaining :p Nah I think overall our cohort is like fluctuating, there are some people who are really really good (RD :D ) but overall not too great. The reason I say this is because I think I did fairly well in English, and the first time I actually wrote an essay ever was in year 11.. so that makes me think that overall we aren't too great tbh

I agree with chem being strong, potentially stronger than last years. no idea about eco, though I hear the accelerants are pretty beast. 3u I think top 140 or so ranks will do okay (i.e. Band6+) because marks are really clumped up together. Its when you start to get lower than that that it gets weaker, though I reckon there still might be like 20ish people on 88 or 89

Bio is apparently very well performing this year, modern is like really good (which is why I chickened out and dropped in year 11), so is legal.

Phys... :( we have some really good people (you included) and like they're stand out good, but its like an extremity where everyone else is much lower. so yeah not too great :/

pd cohort is really good too :D everyone is really clumped together and they expect around 80% to Band 6 haha so yeh hopefully
yep yep 50% left :D hmm okay makes sense! :)

for 3u, I defs agree - it is so damn clumped. haha head teacher was saying how he had to increase the standard deviation massively to reduce the number of equal ranks haha :D

oh wow :) great insights.

and haha but legit phys is my weakest. even with top 20 rank, I'm not confident in how good my moderated internal will be :/

and wow pd cohort sounds really good :)

I understand what you're saying but the 'dropkicks' shouldn't affect you anyway provided you're ranked high enough, and in that sense I think the system is fair.

It doesn't matter man, school is over and it all comes down to you know. If it means anything I used to go to a school ranked in the 60-70s and I feel that I would have probably done better overall there, atar wise
glad to know that you've appreciated the welcome we've given to you.

wait, I'm like 6th out of 30 I think. am I gonna diee?? omgg w0t is lyf in a shit chem cohort :(((
nahh mate, every year we usually get 0-2 b6 in chem lol. I just think this year's top 2 are quite good.
Legit we probs get like 8 b5, 3b4 and then 20 b1-3s lol
Lol That was legit my rank, or something like 5th, don't remember, got dragged down like crazy, fuck the chem cohort in our school.

ceebs writing in full but main points:

- excessive quantities of some ions can be harmful-- then examples e.g lead is a toxic heavy metal, cadmium and mercury do bad stuff to you. writing about all the health effects of these on humans. then also where they're used e.g. industry petrol etc
- evidence in terms of human health mainly so like enhanced incidence of neurological disorders in Children in Broken Hill due to elevated lead levels, other examples maybe like 2-3 more. increased H+ ions can lead to acid ran and all that crap
- evidence for the environment and for aquatic life etc, heavy metal pollution, eutrophication, acid rain, thermal pollution and all dat
- techniques for monitoring, maybe like a brief description of 1-2 methods and tests

NEXT QUESTION: Describe the methods currently in place for reducing the effects of acid rain and photochemical smog. 5 marks
Catalytic converters in cars and scrubbers in factories which combust coal. (scrubbers trap SO2 and prevent it from escaping into the environment)

Just a quick question guys, has anyone done this thoroughly? Learning about methods reducing the effects of acid rain and photochemical smog.

yep did it thoroughly at school, see conquering chemistry

so like rh/pt catalysts used to convert NO & CO in catalytic converters
use of gypsum scrubbers for acid rain
CaCO3 use for acid rain
epa monitors emissions in mobile units
limits to the emissions
Okay cool thanks! I shall check it :p

In the meantime provide an answer?

Looks good actually :D but I think you could make it more concise, handwritten that would be too long and its lots of unnecessary depth. But very thorough knowledge!

Haha Faisalabdul I'll be happy with 92+ in chem. My internal ranks not great but that was mainly because I majorly screwed up a prac exam worth heaps, but my half yearly and trials were decent so I'm hoping that if I achieve similar external marks I can make it

Omg suchsmallhands you do chem of art too :D YAY!

Yes next question. Dicuss the implications of the use of radioisotopes in medicine (5 marks)
You too? Do you go to Baulko?

Ammonium chloride is formed from ammonia (or ammonium hydroxide) and hydrochloric acid. The ammonium ion acts as a weak Bronsted–Lowry acid when dissolved in water. This equilibrium lies to the left as the hydronium ion is a stronger acid than ammonium ions and NH3 is a stronger base than water. The final solution is mildly acidic due to the presence of the hydronium ion.

NH4+(aq) + H2O(l) <> NH3(aq) + H3O+ (aq)
