Hi I am a current Year 10 student, considering if he should get tutoring next year. I would to ask current year 11 students who receives tutoring some questions:

1. What subjects do you get tutoring for?
2. How much hours a week for those subjects?
3. How much does it cost weekly?
4. In your circumstance, is tutoring affordable for you? (Pretty much is tutoring isn't a big financial problem for you, or nah?)

Thanks in advance for those who answer these 4 Qs. Any other insights/info/experiences is appreciated.

you can get 99+ without tutoring. Tutoring doesn't guarantee 99.95, one has to work hard for it.

Ok i recommend getting tutoring if:
- you are under performing in a subject.
- or if you want to learn ahead from your class and learn topics before others.

- $80 for 2hrs, high quality tutor, over 40+ years of exp.

- depends on your situation, if you are paying for it personally then yes, it is a big financial problem, if your parents are paying for it then, you lose nothing

yeah but if you do tutoring without working hard then it's useless. but yeah do what works best for you!

Thanks for your reply $40 an hour though... But yeah I guess it isn't that bad if you only get 2 hours a week

3U Math then 4U
Adv English
Economics
Business Studies
Biology
Legal Studies or Language or another science, then to be dropped at year 12

My ATAR aim would be 96.55 (Actuarial Studies at Macquarie) but it can go lower for the other commerce related courses

Considering the rates some private colleges charge for generic resources and classroom based teaching, $40/hr for one-on-one is reasonable considering the tailored approach you get.

tbh you don't need tutoring for eco or business, the subjects are straight forward enough
don't know about bio but apparently it's pretty easy
maths -> go if you're struggling or want a competitive advantage over peers (by gaining access to more materials etc)
english -> same as maths

You should consider tutoring if you're focused, have a decent attention span and can handle all the extra work.

Tutoring doesn't necessarily work for everyone, but if you do feel it's going to be beneficial, then it's a good idea to at least try it out - no point in denying yourself a potential advantage. You can always quit if you feel you're not benefiting from tutoring.

Whoever mentioned the $40/hr being cheap for a 1v1 tutor is correct. Tutoring centres such as matrix, charge over $40/hr for group sessions. If you can find a high quality tutor for 40$ then good on u m8

probably would be
