I don't know if anyone who does the hsc fully understands how the hsc works like moderation, scaling etc. but I have some questions
If you were coming say sixth in your internal assessment mark in a subject and go a mark of 84, and in ur hsc you got a mark of 95, but no one else scored in the 90s would this affect your final mark. Would you get the 95 that you deserve or would it get lowered.

I don't like the idea that the mark you will see as your hsc assessment mark isn't ur own. Like what happens if internally you were averaging at a band 4 ish and then in the hsc you blitz it and get in the 90s.

Depends on how far away from first/last you are in your internals. The 95 would be yours for your exam mark, but if you're a long way behind first, your assessment mark would be knocked down.

What if top few people are good but the lower half is lyk average?
Then if you're ranked with the top and the top students are clustered, your marks would shift with them. Perhaps place the marks in the bell curve and see whether your position is closer to the top or the average.

Sadly I don't know specifically what other people got, but thanks for giving me hope! :)

Tbh, at the end of the day, you get what you deserved. If you worked hard and helped everyone, you will enjoy the awards, whereas if you're selfish and not helping, you will enjoy the punishments.

but there are some people who just don't both to put in the effort or try. Like there are some people who are like, I don't care about history or I'm not going to study, or put minimum effort. They don't realize that they pull down the cohort.

'Helping people' can only get them so far. I refrain from actively offering assistance to other people in my Chem/Phys/Maths classes now cos I know for a fact they'll just go home and play LoL/Dota for hours on end and forget everything I've helped them with. If they're not putting in the hard yards, there's jack shit I can do. However, if someone asks me for help, I'll be more than willing (i'd never ever refuse). So as bitter as it may sound, if they aren't willing to put in any effort, that should be their problem. None of this 'everyone affects everyone else' HSC bullshit.

Agree wholeheartedly. I love helping people and get carried away doing so, but I don't find it worthwhile helping those who don't ask for it and just go home and don't care about it anymore. I enjoy helping those who are keen but really there's only a small minority of them. If you go to a low ranked school, you'll know. It's hard to make people study one month before the hsc :(
But since there's nothing we can do about it I think the best way is to perform very well externally and hope that it carries you.
