So I'm having severe back pain, for trials would I be allowed special provisions where you can take rest breaks every half hour or so? Or is this not an option?

Yeah it should be allowed, but you have to organise it beforehand. You can't just rock up on the day and say you have a bad back, and expect them to let you have breaks every half hour.

Yes it is allowed. I had the exact same problem (probably worse) and I got "rest time" and special seating.

You have to speak to the people who take care or special provisions in your school. if you don't know that then just ask the assistant principal. Show them some proof like x rays, doctor reports, mri, etc

The school can make the call for the trials but for the HSC it will need to go to the BOS for their determination.

Yep. I'm eligible under severe pain criteria, and am allowed rest breaks every half hour or so.

Easier to get then extra time. Good luck.. remember you'll need a doctor's certificate however paper work is meant to have already been submitted by now.
