Chile upsets Spain 2-0.

The defending champions are OUT after a 1-5 crushing defeat at the hands of the Netherlands and this loss to Chile.

^No way! RvP and Robben will dismantle the Aussies
Mate Robben and RvP got throttled in the game I told you I had hope in them.

You can't underestimate the Aussies. Ever since they beat Japan 3-1 when I watched it happen live after coming down from 1-0 with 6 minutes to go back in Germany they have been my one source of comeback inspiration. Not many teams have done that.

And after watching yesterdays game live, I know that any team from the ground can rise and win.

They were the underdogs but if they had good finishing they easily could have demolished the match 4-0. Imo the result for Netherlands was undeserving. If Chile beats them then they will face a real test against the host nation after the group stage.

Their mistakes cost them the game (reminds me of my team).

All 3 goals were very soft and preventable.

I almost woke up the whole family when I say that volley at 2:30am.

Someone needs to sig this. Will rep 5eva.

Yeah

I cannot fathom how the Netherlands could have annihilated Spain so easily... Yet Australia nearly walked over them.
Its different style of play which obliterated Netherlands. In fact, the Netherlands have always been weak against Australia because whenever we play them we always oppress them.

We play in a similar style of play as to Australia played in my team, except we have more compact passing going around and a few good switch over moves (in fact we did some mad tiki-taka drills yesterday) and the only way teams score against us is on the counter attack or by just lobbing the ball over like Netherlands did yesterday lol.

The Netherlands coach did a bad job in preparing though and has never been able to do well against us. Hence why we have drawn with them twice and beat them once and now from this game they have beaten us through the counters and lobs.

Netherlands did not up their game until about the 80th minute.

Robben was a beast in aus vs dutch, I doubt Australia has any good chance vsing spain without cahill tbh.

Germany vs Portugal was pretty epic

4, 0 hahah!

Portugal's team was all over the place and German played like a united coherent team

Robben has always played like that. He did not release his inner beast in this game. He has the capability of playing much better.

But still other than the break for the first goal he did not really get a clear shot at goal again.

There were a few other clear shots at goal, but they were all just mistakes of the defence. And I loved how we shut down Robben and he was forced to play the way he faced rather than try and turn into the players (if you do this you are guaranteed to lose the ball). That was probably the strongest point of the Australian defence being that they would force the Dutch back if they were facing the wrong way towards the Dutch goal.

^^

Who do you reckon will win the World Cup?

Germany?
Chile ?
I haven't been watching enough to determine something like that (exams).

However there will inevitably be at least 2 South American teams in the semis I reckon.

That's all I can comment. Will look at potentials later on after exams.

This is the third time in the last four World Cups that the defending champions have been elminated in the group stage. If you look at the exception (Brazil 2006), they didnt play with much passion despite easily having the best roster at that World Cup (and a young squad at that).

Well I have a lot of experience under my belt.

And I have just started refereeing too.

So I've seen the game from the aspects of referees, players under tiki-taka or long ball or defensive or attacking play, etc. Have not coached yet though.

And idk but I actually learn more myself from watching the games with less skill because its easier to point out mistakes. However once you point our mistakes in your own daily game then you can start to point out mistakes of professionals and such.

Stay tuned for after group stage where I finally get to holidays and can watch a few more matches :p
