Also I'm thinking of doing engineering, specifically electrical, petroleum, civil or aerospace/nautical, which UNI should I go for, and why specifically that one over another uni?
Aerospace/Aeronautical - Unsure but I do hear that USYD is better (and I do not know why but someone else can expand on that point)
Civil Engineering - UNSW; they have more civil engineering specializations (6, including environmental), and they have transport and water engineering if you want to do that too.
Electrical Engineering - Not sure about this one.
Petroleum Engineering - UNSW, this is the only uni that offers such an engineering discipline. Unless if you're bothered to travel to Western Australia to do an petroleum engo degree there then UNSW is your only option.

Aerospace/Aeronautical - USYD; because that's the only place they offer such a major.
UNSW has Aerospace, and arguably, there is little distinguishing difference at university level between Aerospace and Aeronautical.

I go to a selective school (Girra) and since the start of year 12 everyone has been talking about which uni they would want to get it. One of the most common unis that are talked about the most between my peers is UNSW and USYD, and the thought of UWS being a shithole gets thrown around alot.
My question is pretty much this, what is the difference between UNSW and USYD?
Why is UWS considered less prestigious than UNSW or USYD?
Why for the same course are ATAR requirements different amongst different unis?

Sorry i actually know nothing about uni, i'd like to learn a bit more from here, if anyone could answer my query, thanks!
since you are a girrawanker

Girraween is the UWS of full selective schools

is pretty much the best way to explain it

Don't undermine their capabilities mate. Girra's pretty good. Btw some chic from Glenwood high school got an atar of 99.70 last year. Yep now go search up that school on the school ranks. Some dude state ranked physics too from there. Stereotypes aint gon get you anywhere.

Yeah ATAR requirements are different because UWS is aimed at students of a lower calibre. Just how there are selective schools and non-selective schools. UWS atar cut offs basically demonstrates its sole purpose. It provides more individual assistance and stuff + they have more practical experiences etc. Yeah there are gonna be people of different capabilities as this disparity exists everywhere. It's not a "shithole" uni but it's sorta deemed that way because of the low atar cut offs and by people who lack empathy for others and basically place labels. Don't fall into that trap. But overall yes, UNSW and USYD are better for people who want to pursue certain professions in the fields of Medicine, IT, Engineering, Law.

No

UWS is not "aimed" at students of a lower calibre, but I suppose you either ignored the earlier posts in this thread or the education you received, despite your elitist point of view, is from an institution that left you incapable of reading. Nor is the uni system anything like selective schools and this comparison is moot. No uni is "better", tthe merits of a uni are based on the individual courses, what opportunities these courses offer, the social opportunities of a uni, the transport u need to take to uni etc. Every uni has it's strengths and weaknesses that are relative to what an applicant wants from uni.

On that note, what AbsoluteZero said on the other page is true. Just because you go to usyd or unsw, does not mean you are just gonna be handed a job. If employability is a concern, do not focus on ur uni but rather urself and how u can grasp opportunities. Because when the time comes, it's you that is gonna get or not gonna get a job on ur own merits, not ur uni. The job market is competitive enough now so that what uni u went to has far less relevance compared to many other factors that are universal throughout the unis and influenced entirely by u and ur initiative.

Also as for the last part of ur post, going to uws has no bearing on ur employment in a medical career compared to unsw and usyd students, in fact objectively speaking uws med students have more clinical experience by the time they graduate, which is often a big plus for the people they work with.

I imagine it has limited relevance to other degrees such as commerce and IT considering that I know someone who was average at best at uws and now has a very good job at kpmg, because they demonstrated a plethora of skills beyond just academics and what uni they went to.

Although, being in UNSW or USYD doesnt guarentee you a job, it does put you at the forefront of applications. I know some firms that have a prerequsite that you must be from one of these two unis.

But all roundedness is the most important aspect in terms of employability.

if you do well lol

it'll make no difference to your application if you're not a good student. If you're a good student, then your employability will be pretty good for most good firms (though yes, not all if you don't go to certain unis, but this will likely change over time as UWS gets older and more of their graduates go out in the working world)

Essentially what i'm saying is, if you're good enough you can get an awesome job regardless of what uni you go to, if you're not good enough then whatever uni you go to won't really help you at all

Yes, but some employers. Uni does play a big factor. But it varies from case to case.

Glenwood high is the James ruse of non-selective public schools
