yeah i was reading that earlier, but it only suggests the eight core courses

i wasn't told you had to pick a major until 2nd year?

Administratively, yes - but it's best to have a general idea now so you can plan ahead of time and streamline the process.

That way, you can do your core courses in first year while also doing some of your chosen major's other requirements - if at all needed.

You can do any level 1 course (e.g. ACCT1xxx, ECON1xxx) in your first year from that list of "Compulsory first and second year core courses", also given that you meet any prerequisites.

For example, you could do ACCT1501, ECON1101, ECON1202 and ECON1203 in your first semester. But you couldn't do ECON1102 in your first semester or any if you haven't do ECON1101 because that is a prerequisite.

As Shadowdude said, if you have a general idea, then it will help with which courses should be taken early on to ensure you meet any possible prerequisites.

Well you need to do ECON1101 before you can do ECON1102. So ECON1101 in Sem 1 and ECON1102 in Sem 2.

You can do ACCt1501, ECON1202 and ECON1203 in either Sem 1 or Sem 2. I would do ECON1203 in Sem 1 as it is a prerequisite to ECON1401.

ECON2101 you leave till 2nd year. ECON2206 you also usually leave till 2nd year but you do it in Sem 2 first year if you want.

Your cores should be done something like

1st Year Sem 1 - ACCT1501, ECON1101, ECON1202, ECON1203
1st Year Sem 2 - ECON1102, ECON1401 (ECON2206)
2nd Year Sem 1 - ECON2101 (ECON2206)

As a student who does Economics, i strongly suggest you do ECON1202 in the first semester while maths is still in your brain from HS. Keep ACCT1501 in your sleeve for semester 2 (if you can).
If you need any help with any of the Econ subjects feel free to PM me :)

this is so funny coming from someone who doesn't do the degree at all.
medical science i heard now is a pointless degree for those who fail to get into med
