So at the moment i have 13 units, (you can see my subjects on my signature), I've already pretty well decided to drop extension english, however, I'm not so sure about ancient. I think I have the potential to do reasonably well in it, however, I wasn't enjoying it much in the last few weeks of school. I'm thinking of keeping it til after the half yearlies (don't want to be stranded with 10 units and bomb maths E2) as then I should defs know if I am staying in maths E2. In a comparative view it takes up the second most time out of my subjects (English is 1st) and scales the lowest.

What are your thoughts guys?

Don't drop Ancient yet-If you think you have potential to do reasonably well in it, keep it. I had a friend who did reasonably well in Society and Culture, and she also did maths extension two, and at one point, she wanted to drop society and culture because the PIP had taken a significant amount of her study time, however, she was hesitant like you to drop down to 10 units, and luckily she didn't, because Society and Culture ended up being her highest HSC mark. Why didn't you enjoy it as much?-was it due to a change of teacher, the nature of the topic?, I think in every subject, it is hard to find that you will absolutely love every single bit of the entire subject, if you love the subject, then you will be willing to accept the interesting as well as less interesting bits-don't quit the subject just because of the fact you didn't enjoy it for a few weeks.

I think your plan is good-all the best, hope this helps and my best wishes for you to blitz your HSC year and achieve your ATAR aim:)

Mainly because the work we are given basically involves reading and copying out of the text book which is time consuming and I personally find uninteresting

Perhaps you should talk to your teacher nicely to see whether he/she can change their teaching methods to incorporate more varieties of different types of learning. Remember that a teacher is not a superhuman-they need feedback from students to help them improve, I am sure your teacher will be willing to add more variety to the lesson to make it more engaging. I still think you should keep Ancient for now and see how everything goes for at least one more term:) Hope you will have an enjoyable and productive holiday break:)

I think you have the right idea - I'd give it a bit more time especially considering the huge risk involved in sitting on 10 units with MX2 when you are unsure about it.
