School Rank: 30s-40s
2u English: 149/150
3u maths: 113/140
4u maths: 42/42
Physics: 76/77
Chemistry: 113/114
Eco: 35/37

Based on these, I was given ~80 estimate. Is 85-87 obtainable realistically? (Bombed out English and 4u exam)

You really need your cohort to perform well in the externals, because if even one person screws up the externals in any of your subjects, your screwed for that subject.

And I know your school is ranked high, but the chance of someone screwing up their exam is quite high, so I think 80s is a bit of an overestimate. I would say high 60s to low 70s.

But then again, I'm not sure what the ATAR range is for high ranked schools.

People on these forums will look at those rankings and say thats not possible for a 80 more an ATAR in 40s.

I personally think that 80s are a possibility given if you got around 70s to 80s in your school work (if your in a school ranked in top 50s, its more a possibility as others are/should be within 80s and over). But depending on how you do in your HSC that will be the only difference.

Sorry, no hope for you.. you're in the last 3 for nearly every subject realistically around 70-75

If you seriously want to try and have an estimate of your own ATAR. Try this and you will get a basic view on what your ATAR will be.

1. Add all you assessment marks together which will be /500

2. Use this given ATAR scaling report from 2012 and calculate what ATAR you will get for just your assessment tasks
http://www.uac.edu.au/documents/atar/2012-ScalingReport.pdf (PAGE 11)

3. Predict what you will get in the HSC, add those marks up which will be /500

4. Use the ATAR scaling report from 2012 and calculate the HSC Exam marks
http://www.uac.edu.au/documents/atar/2012-ScalingReport.pdf (PAGE 11)

5. Half both ATAR scores

6. Add your half ATAR scores together (Half of Assessment ATAR and Half of HSC ATAR) to give approximately an ATAR score to you.

Just remember this will be before scaling and moderation so it could be changed for your final ATAR given in December.
Also remember this is from 2012, so it will be an example of your ATAR you would have received if you finished in 2012 without moderation and scaling. So, all it gives is a simple way of calculating your own ATAR score with a few changes given the year of the report.

Your school rank is pretty good, but I'll be honest.
Since you're near the bottom for most subjects it will depend on your cohort's performance, if you are at the bottom and someone bombs out you will essentially get their HSC mark as your internal mark, bringing your overall HSC mark down.

I would say 70-80.
