Marks required in HSC for Band 6?? (1 Viewer)

I have heard that its not easy to get band 6 in SDD my school is ranked ~36 in state and for last 2 years we have had no band 6s,
does any one know what was the cut off last year for band 6?



Also i wanted to know if coming 3rd after my school tasks is going to stop me from beating who came 1st in my school(note there was only 1 mark separating 3rd from 1st)

Not sure about the cut off for last year but looking at the raw mark database, the estimated cut off is 83. In general it will vary around this point so I doubt 2012 was too far off.

You can definitely beat him/her, provided you perform very well externally. Besides 1 mark will probably not really affect you anyway.

So if i beat him by 3 marks in externals will i get a higher overall result??? or do the marks get moderated differently?

Either way, he will get the highest internal mark while everyone else (except for the person coming last) will have their marks adjusted, conforming to the gaps between each rank. Since the gap between 1st and 3rd is only 1 mark, you won't be too far off. If you do beat him in externals, yes, you have a great chance of getting highest overall.

A raw mark of 83 is aligned to band 6. The cut off for a band 5 is around 65.
