I have been 'making up' / 'stretching the truth' in all my related texts and case studies for the past two years and I have achieved some awesome marks because of it hahaha

So should I do this for my externals too ? Or will the markers be able to tell ?

Stretch the truth in ones that aren't used widely

EG: in Belonging I have my supp texts as 'Neighbours' by Tim Winton and 'The Departed' (film) by Martin Scorsese. I make up stuff for 'The Departed' sometimes.

But don't completely make up a text.

Make them up in texts the examiners aren't likely to know. If you are going to have to make up stuff.

I related text is for belonging is called 'the ghost train' by margret nickleson. Anyone ever heard of that? Of course not, I made it up. The best part is that you can make up the story to fit the question. I did this in halfyearly's and trails and noone noticed. Still got good marks and you can make up quotes and techniques and stuff

i also make up my legal studies cases and media reports but not laws

it would be marked as not a strong link to your core text and would probably prevent a sophisticated response . I would look to see what techniques and examples you use to support your argument . probably cost you around 2 marks or more depending on the link

Just use a existent related text which is in a different language so the markers can't interpret it. Win win situation, you have proof it's not made up, and you can bullshit your quotes perfectly with perfect techniques. I thought of this before but never had the balls to do it.

Possible, but not advisable. You'd have to be really good to write an essay on something completely made up. I've been told the examiners don't look it up, so they won't notice, but it would be much easier to just analyse an actual text.
