If we do not write the absolute value for integration where the result is in terms of ln in HSC, would I lose marks???

If it doesn't affect the integral as a whole you shouldn't, but you should include them. If you're evaluating functions and it happens that you have negative x you'll need to take the absolute values with you.

Hmm from what I've heard 3u dont worry, 4u put them in.

But my 4u teacher says don't worry about them. Weird haha, don't think it's necessary though (haven't seen a q that actually needed it)

The fact that we see that they are from the 80s suggest that HSC examiners care less about its subtlety nowadays.
