Hi guys,
I was given an offer to study Pharmacy at Usyd last year, however I took Business/IT offer of UTS.
So, I just wanted to know how people are progressing in Pharmacy?
How are the job prospects once you graduate/salary?
Is anyone enjoying Pharmacy or they regret their decision to study it?
I want perceptions from students in Pharmacy/who have studied Pharmacy.
I was thinking of transferring as my course is really boring. But, I'm doing alright by maintaining a D average.

Years ago the job prospects were good. But then all the Asians heard about it now the job market is flooded with pharmacy grads. Much like accounting. Don't do this course. Zero job prospects.

Thanks for your reply :)
So is there a field that isn't as saturated as Pharmacy and Accounting?
The obvious ones are medicine and engineering... What else?

Sorry, that is complete nonsense. The absence of anything mildly substantial in your post reflects the incorporeal, and frighteningly ignorant, nature of your claim, "Don't do this course. Zero job prospects."

Also what on earth do you mean by "then all the Asians heard about it". Racist rhetoric directed at Asian academics is so 2000.

I'm doing a health science at the moment
- Rewarding job - helping people
- Actually able to get a job when you graduate
- It's really not shit pay :p
- Almost everything you learn in uni is relavent to your your future job
- Even though a health science degree is so specific, there are actually many different ways to branch out

You really only get admin jobs in the first few years (like first and second year) of your degree until you have more experience in the health sector

It obviously doesn't interest you though :p so it's fine

Good luck :)

So are you trying to say that pharmacy isn't saturated? Fine there are job prospects - go work in a pharmacy for fast food level wages after you graduate from university. The fact is pharmaceutical companies don't need that many graduates that universities are supplying.

Not being racist , Asian myself. This is what I heard from someone who did pharmacy. Find someone that thinks pharmacy isn't saturated then come back and tell me.

lol I completely agree with you.. I did some research myself and even interviewed multiple pharmacists prior to making my decision last year, and all of them told me to stay away from it :/

Yeah, there's not a lot of jobs, in general, at the moment.

Engineering does NOT have lots of jobs, at the moment. Even health sciences does not have a lot of jobs, again, at the moment. Obviously, pharmacy hasn't had jobs since the dawn of time.

If you really love something and can excel in it, you should still do it. The number of jobs available will fluctuate and having little prospects doesn't mean no prospects in future.

I have a pharmacist in my course who go his degree, worked for a bit then decided to do medicine.

Basically he said it was shit. The pay is mediocre and it's apparently one of the most boring jobs in the work.

Don't be sad that you missed out.
