Re: Semester 1 UNSW Chatter Thread 2013

do half the people in your classes show up 15 minutes early or is it just a first year thing

also where are the video recorded lectures uploaded to?
It's a first-year-first-few-weeks thing, where after a few weeks, first years will realise they don't need to be on time, they can have an extra 30 minutes sleep or they can just not turn up at all.

Which course has video recorded lectures?

Most are just voice/audio recorded. You will be given a link to Lectopia.

that is good because next time I show up half an hour late I don't want to have to sit in the doorway because all the seats and most floor spaces are taken

Re: Semester 1 UNSW Chatter Thread 2013

I know you're all bombarded with questions but bear with me.

Would like to know a couple of things:

1) Anyone know if K17 Computer lab requires ID card to get in. Can non CSE-students go in there? Also, is it true there are lan parties there often?

2) Could the experienced folk at this wonderfully large university recommend places to chill out in? Would prefer something with not too many people, powerpoints and not too strict on food policies. So far I am most comfortable in ASB :)

Take it easy you all.
CSE computer labs (including outside of K17) are generally open during uni hours, anyone can walk in. Outside of uni hours you need ID card, and generally only postgrads and tutors have access. Even so, only CSE students can login to the machines. No, there are not frequent LAN parties, though the labs have been known to host Quake competitions in the past.

International students should be made to undertake an etiquette course. E.g. walk on the left hand side...
