Just got my english yearly section 3 (essay) back. I got 15/20...

Average was 10 or 11 out of 20

Highest was 19/20 and 3 people got it.

Lowest was 3/20 in my class

I dont know whether i should be happy or not.

You should be happy you got well above average and a decent mark but you should also strive to improve because you are capable of better.

It is a positive experience you can learn and improve from :)

dat handwriting is pleasing to the eyes.

15/20 is pretty good, certainly better than how I went in Year 10 essays.

about 750ish-800ish words in 30 minutes.

how'd you go in year 10
I got like 10/15 for my Journeys essay. But then again, I wasn't rote-learning essays back then. Drastically improved in Year 11 after learning from my mistakes and how to do three things:
- Memorise prepared responses and the important stuff: quotes, techniques, explanation, etc.
- Adapting this response to answer the question. In that Year 10 essay, I didn't answer the question so I learnt from that. Answering the question is very important if you want to break the A barrier.
- Quantity makes quality. Writing more.

And 750+ words in 30 mins is very impressive for such neat writing.

Congrats dude, that's quite good. You should definitely be happy. Keep striving and you won't have a problem with english in year 11/12.

Holy crap your writing is amazing. And well done- if the average was only 11, then 15 is a very solid mark.

That's a fair pace for that style of writing. I would try to quicken it up a bit for Year 11/12.

I can hit about 1200 in 40 mins which is like 900 in half an hour. You don't need to write that fast though- maybe aim for like 850 in the half hour and that's defs faster than most of the state and more than enough.

For Extension 2 English Critical Responses, does it have to be about a text/franchise etc. Or can it be something more broad like society, sociology or philosophy or something.
