I want to do CompSci and my first choice is UNSW which requires 91~. However, my complete laziness for the trials have destroyed that dream, at least for the first year of uni. So, if I don't get the ATAR I need, I have two fallbacks that only require 75~ which I can go to for my first year and then transfer. They are UOW and UWS.

B CompSci @ UOW

Pros:
-More highly regarded
-They offer a major in Games Development, which is really my goal for this course.
-I have heard good feedback on it

Cons:
-Extremely long travel distance (1.5 hours I think by train)
-Unfamiliar area

B CompSci @ UWS

Pros:
-So many bonus points to get in
-It's extremely close

Cons:
-Negative prestige
-I've heard bad feedback
-They don't offer games dev as a major

If I just plan on transferring anyway, should I bother worrying about the prestige/feedback/quality of a university and just go for what's most comfortable? UOW seems really promising for games dev, but the travel distance is very daunting. I don't want to do any games development specific courses (because of much (read: A LOT of) admonishment from other people in forums), so that's why I want to do CompSci with a major in games dev. This gives me a fallback degree if my dream as a games developer gets trashed. That is really the main reason I chose not to go along with my original choice of games dev at UTS.

Also, I suck at maths (a lot). Would I be fine with the maths in CompSci (e.g. discrete maths) if I put a lot of effort into it? Or is success only reserved to those mathematically attuned? :s

If you go to UoW, you will have to move there. No question. If you're saying UWS is extremely close, then you're looking at either a 90 minute drive each way every day, or a 2-3 hour train ride each way per day.

oh holy ****. i finally got around to checking 131500.com.au and yeah youre right, 3 hours plus to go to UoW. Dx I'm not sure if I'm keen on living in a dorm tho, it'll be a huge departure from my usual way of life Dx.

Do major-specific classes start at the beginning of your course or no? If so, then it'll be better just to go to UWS. :S
