Hello.

Today I had my English paper two, and I know I haven't gotten my marks yet obviously, but I personally feel I did not do my best today, and section two I didn't write much at all, so I expect a low mark for that, it's terrible.

I was sort of feeling ''Oh who cares'', but I don't want to feel like that just because of today. I was wondering, if I don't do as well, or say another exam is a bit weaker, will the ATAR be affected to a large extent?

People have told me to not worry so much and that I am hard on myself... but I genuinely feel this isn't as good as I could have done, and i know I need to practice more.

dont forget that your internal rank is more important than the actual mark you get internally.
so even though you may not have done as well as you should if you rank well it wouldnt affect you as much

Mike: so even if I came fourth with a mark of 80 that is still okay? for eg?

Internally i rank 4th so far...if that counts for anything.

and it is worth 30%

But how does that work when modern is worth 30% too? Wouldnt everything be divided then? So that means there is less percentage to be counted??

It depends on a variety of factors really - its just too hard to even give you a general answer on this. It could effect you a great deal or it could have a minimal impact, its just too hard to say.

Hmm okay.. well, if you stuff up in an exam for example, still passing but maybe high band 4 range for instance, it won't stuff up your ATAR too much if you are aiming 90 plus?

I am not really confident at the moment... but I am becoming more aware of my weaknesses, so I want to take my time and study harder after the trials.

it can probably affect you by 0.1-5 atar "points" but you can easily make up for that in your hsc exam :)

It really depends on a variety of factors. There is no way to answer this question.

Well for a 90+, one trial exam below par won't stop it even though there are many factors at play. Don't stress the past, I just had did not so great in the AOS paper but you never know how others went, and with English trials only worth 30% the majority of your marks are set by assessment and also not on one English paper.
