I wanna do science/comm or science/engineering or any 95+ degree for now then do gamsat and get into med (assuming gamsat will be easy after I study science at uni). would the science degree benefit me with the med? I don't like touching organs/all that disgusting stuff so I'm thinking about doing physics and med and doing major in medical physics (i.e. physiotherapy in med and applied physics) then work with mechines rather than sick people. is what im thinking about a good idea? or should I just do comm/adv science or engineering/comm or engineering/science etc... I don't wanna do med as undergrad since I'll be limiting myself to med, I really wanna do several degrees then specialise in some area that involves both fields.
Can anyone tell me more about the gamsat, I couldn't find much info about it on the internet.

Why does it have to be 95+, courses with lower cut-offs are not worthy enough to have you as student?

Advanced Physics is 96 isn't it? and most combined degrees are 95+ at USyD and UNSW, aren't they?

Well looks like you're gonna get 99.95 from your sig, so you can choose do the combined science/med program at usyd without having to take the GAMSAT.

not all of them but why do they have to be 95+ ?

If discgusting stuff worries you so much, med is completely the wrong career path for you imo. If you like machines you should look into something like engineering.

I'm not doing UMAT but, so I have to do GAMSAT. I thought doing science will help me ace the gamsat.

You still can do medical physics, i.e. design and use medical machines etc... cant you?

That's not med though, that is more biomedical engineering.
What about doctors who do MRI's at hospitals and doctors who do physiotherapy and doctors who do/analyse x-rays, sonar, ultrasound ... imaging, im pretty sure they are doctors. and they never touch human organs, they just work with machines. idk, I'm just thinking about what u can possibly do with med/science :)

radiologists are doctors
physio's are not doctors
radiographers are not doctors

medical physics has nothing to do with medicine at all. its just a b. science degree where you work with medical equipment all day. you dont need any medical knowledge, just how to operate the machinery.

Forget about what I said about medical physics, because I don't know what I'm talking about.
Can you tell me what you can do with a med/science degree, I mean what is the benefit of doing the combined degree, what's the advantage of the science degree in this case? :)

The main advantage is you get more research experience and exposure to the finer details of the biology of disease (e.g. mechanisms, signalling pathways) - this is useful for those considering combining their clinical training with medical research.

A science degree doesn't make the GAMSAT easy. GAMSAT primarily tests logical and reasoning skills, as well as communication.
