I want to ask you guys is it true that the marks start to count towards your atar at the start of term 4 year 11. So does this mean everyone has to start over again and work your way up no matter if you are ranked in the top 5 of year 11. Also could you guys please estimate what atar I am going to have which is on another thread in this section.

Year 11 does not count whatsoever to your ATAR.

All your marks & ranks do not count to your ATAR.

Although they may count to your head teachers decision of whether or not you can do maths X2 and english X2.

HSC content beings term 4 of year 11, meaning from then on, every weighted assessment task counts to your ATAR.

Yes of course, depending on your subjects and the score within the band five (e.g. 80 or 89).

How about with these combination of subjects: 3 unit maths, Software Design and Development, Physics, Standard English, SOR 1 and Business studies with a low score of band 5s ie: 81, 82,etc?

Try punching some numbers into an ATAR calculator. It'll give you a good feel for what kind of marks you'll need to get in each subject to reach your goal

80 on all those subjects is about 82-84 ATAR.

Your looking at about 85 for every 2U subject there and about 40 for every one unit subject to break the 90 ATAR mark.

Or another way to look at it is that you need an average scaled mark of 37/50 per unit to get 90 ATAR. Go to an estimator and test marks and reverse atar calculation.
