I recommend going to the library - helps you focus, no distractions, etc.

There's programs that allow you to block the internet and certain sites/programs for a certain number of hours.

And with the assignments, think about it like this. Pretend it's due earlier than it is.... what's the point of stressing the night before when you can 'stress' 2 weeks before and keep improving it

(sorry i didn't really make sense, i'm really tired but hopefully you know what i mean)

Sit down and make yourself do what you have to do by whatever means necessary; it sounds tough but it gets easier with consistent effort. As madharris said, there are internet-blocking programs out there if you are that desperate (like http://macfreedom.com/), or there is your local library.

Find out why you procrastinate and tell yourself to stop using excuses; get your work done and you'll feel so much better for it.

I tried the library. Couldn't focus with all the rustling of procrastinating students, had to pack my stuff up to go pee, couldn't snack on lollies.

I too suffer the same problem...
Evidence: still writing up an extension English essay at the last minute on the night before it is due.
I'm sure other people here will give more helpful tips about it haha.

I'm the exact same. What I do is sit myself down and get through the mental barrier by telling myself the work needs to be done and that once it is done I'll feel much better. In the end I think the work seems a lot harder before you actually start doing it and when you're halfway through it you realise that its really not that bad. Hope that helps.

throughout high school i came to accept something - procrastination is inevitable. you will procrastinate no matter what. it just comes down to, as carrot said, a matter of self control and discipline to ensure that you procrastinate smartly. if you can do this, that is effectively my definition of efficient study.

Watch your favourite TV shows/soaps/crapola whilst eating, saves a heap of time.

This whole statement is true on so many levels. What people fail to consider is that procrastination will occur to some extent. Thats what necessitates the need for discipline and self-control so that you can prevent it from hurting you.

This so many times! You procrastinate over something for ages but once you start you realise that its not that bad at all and regret procrastinating over it for so long.
