Christian lobby has both sides of state politics in their pockets. They wish that their beliefs are imposed on us all, arguing that if we don't retain these last vestiges of christianity our entire civilisation will fall.

Not really no, they are just often attributed as such due to the synthesized concepts of religious virtue and ethics at various points in history. I suppose it's possible that one religion derived its concept of ethical values from the primary source (a deity) but given the diverse range of religions, the failure of some cultures to come into contact until recently and the fact that these concepts of humanism predate any contemporary religion it can't really be argued that they come from religion generally, as much as some religious folk will argue to the contrary.
