Hey boys and girls,

I am am trying to figure out a useful structure for study to let me achieve very high marks. Not only that, but I don't want to burn myself out.
So I have thought of this, but want your feedback whether you guys think it's too much, normal or too little.
Per night: 1 hr for Extension Maths, 45 mins for physics and Chemistry and 30 mins for English and Economics.
That leaves me with an average of 3.5 hrs of study a night, but of course this will be increased during exams.

Thoughts?

Sound pretty good :)
If you're really focusing on maths then your are distributing your time well. But don't you think a bit more time on chem and physics would be helpful seeing as they are 2 of the hardest non ext subjects?
maybe 30 minutes also?
And with eco would you need a bit of extra time gathering recent stats and events so that you are 'in the know'?

No more than 3 hours seriously...
Can you please think of a better structure?

It seems hard to think of one with the time equally distributed to the difficulty of the subject.
Maybe everyone post what they're gonna do and we can share or something.

Lol you won't know what the requirements are for each subject until you start the course.

Of course not but I was just wanting a 'basic' guideline, to have an idea of how I'm gonna work. But don't know how to equally spread everything out because I'm scared of 'burning out'. If it wasn't for burning out, I'd seriously do 5-6 hrs a night.

it isnt an efficient method of study to think about how many hours you must put in. every day/night, make a list of things that you need to complete and cross them off as you go.

No, mate. Forget about all these plans now. You can't have a basic guideline if you don't know any of the requirements whatsoever.
Just go with the flow when you actually start school. My advice anyway.

This. It's more of thinking about the content you ned to achieve at the time.

Sounds good, but on average, would 2 hrs 45 mins be enough? Or even 3 hrs.

per night?

it will vary from day to day, depending on what work you need to complete. some days you may find that you have to spend most of it on one subject, etc. it also depends on how quickly you are able to grasp on concepts. for example, i can spend ages on maths, whereas english comes in a lot more naturally and i spend minimal time on it.

Yeah makes sense, seems like I'm gonna spend 30% on Maths, 20% on physics, 20 % on chemistry and 15% on English and economics.
But it will vary, I understand.

15% on English? You should try and spend more time on English. I mean, come on, majority hates english but its compulsory so you should put more time into it. also, since you're doing ext 1 english, try to focus more time on it because ext 1 english is a lot of work.

Also, you can't estimate how much you need to study atm because like many has said, you dont know the requirements. also, some concepts might be harder in one particular subject than you think so you end up not following the study schedule.

anyways, i like your attitude (studying 3 hours per night, i tried in year 11 but failed epically). but try to relax once in a while and give yourself a 10-20 minute break every 45-1 hour you study.

best of luck :)

^ This. When you set your self hours, a lot of the time you end up wasting time until your set time period is up and you can move onto something else. Work on something for how ever much it needs to be worked on, finish the things that are due closer first, finish your homework the afternoon you get it (if possible), and what ever time you have remaining, you can divide up loosely.

I think I did 4 hrs everyday from the second half of year 10 :L Burnt out completely- and that was year 10.
I'm thinking 3hrs is steady atm.
30% on maths; 25% english; 20% chem; 25% physics.
whoops, no room for modern or bio.

^ this sounds good!
but for a maths ext period maybe 45 minutes.
It's about understanding concepts and studying smart. You don't have to keep doing revision questions if you already know how to do it lol. I think 30 minutes would be suffice.
