My ATAR was 99.05 and I hope to transfer into law from UNSW Commerce. So what marks would i need to be getting and how much work do I need to put in compared to the HSC?

We use WAM at UNSW, and it's the average of your marks. So if you got 90, 85, 80 and 75 as your marks for your four subjects, your WAM is 82.50.

According to the website: https://my.unsw.edu.au/student/academiclife/program_transfer/program_trans_Law.html

You have to complete a full year of uni first with no fails, and then be assessed on WAM. So... very high marks, and about the same amount of work as you did for your HSC should mean you're good.

It'll be at least a distinction average (I.e. 75 or above).

Aim for 85, and you should be sweet.

So it's not strictly 100 and they take any amount of people that meet this requirement?

My friend got a 2010 ATAR of 99.20. He did Commerce at UNSW and had a WAM of 74 and got offered an internal transfer into Combined Law for 2012.
