So besides from far greater viewing angles (without the picture degrading) and apparently slightly better colour quality, What else is the difference between IPS and TN panels?
I've read that TN panels are great for gaming due to their response times and colours, but I also read that IPS has improved greatly making it the superior choice for picture quality.
I've noticed that a lot of 3D LED's are using TN panels, most likely to cut down the costs such as the Samsung SA 950 23" and LG 3D series. - While this screens do not incorporate Nvidia's 3D solution, they use their own engines. - So they are like low end 3D Monitors, in other words. Any ways I'm not looking for a 3D monitor, I just wanted to make the point that most of them use TN panels as of 2011, most likely due to a compromise to even out the prices.
Now Is an IPS really that beneficial over TN panel? I will only be gaming from a straight angle, so far angle viewing is not needed for me. I was looking at the Dell U2412M 24" LED. I've heard complaints that it is very bright, but I presume this can be turned down.

I have also seen samsung use their own technology to increase viewing angles on a TN panel.

he's a review of the SA950
