But the truth is better.... I mean at first the truth may be harsh in SOME cases, but come to think of it.. I'd rather be told the truth 100% I lie is just a mask.. once that mask is removed it may not be a pretty face :/

Tell the truth. People will respect you more. If you want to keep a secret though just tell them that you don't want to tell them. Works for me.

I think it depends on the context. If you tell a lie to say you liked your friends painting, then I'd say that is better than telling the truth and saying you hate it and that it looked like a toddler done it.
