I have finally found the true answer behind school scaling.
Ater emailing bos, they said the school has NOTHING to do with your scaling. It is even said on the UAC website.
Bos told me that your HSC marks are not scaled the scaling occurs when we give your results to UAC. The HSC results reflect the academic quality of students in each subject. **The ATAR reflects the academic quality of all students in all subjects.
The only control you have over an ATAR is to contribute the very best marks you can to the ATAR calculations.

That's all:)

they lied.
This is how it works, its actually quite simple. You have an assessment mark and you have your hsc mark
Now lets say your assessment mark is 80 and your school is ranked 5th
now lets say person b's mark is 80 and their school is ranked 500th
in the hsc you will get 80 but person b will get 60 therefore scaling your marks according to your hsc mark.
this is why school rankings matter because students are taught to a different scale.

Okay, I will listen to you but not bos and UAC.
Funny how people still get higher than 99 in a 500+ school.

That's wrong. School rankings are based on the previous year's cohort ability. Not your own cohort's ability and your current cohort's ability is what matters
Yeah, contradicts your statement.
hahaha and yeah what they said in the email is pretty much right.. For hsc mark, bos uses moderated internal mark and aligned external mark. For atar mark, uac uses moderated internal mark and raw external mark (which gets scaled)

A bit confused. I hope your not saying that school ranks can affect your assessment mark. Because that would be wrong. All school ranks do is show how the previous year's cohort performed.
