Creative writing - Quote stimulus (1 Viewer)

When the stimulus for a creative piece is a quote, can you change the tense/person, for example can: "I opened the door" be changed to "He opened the door" or "He opens the door"?

I wouldn't risk it. You'd lose marks for incorrect use of stimulus imo ...

Last year the criteria said "Uses the quotation as the opening sentence" because it said to in the question and a quotation is an EXACT quotation.
They obviously did it to throw people with 3rd person responses prepared.

It's pretty easy to start with the opening quote and then just throw it away and continue with your prepared response.

Yes, that's perfectly fine.
