because im a casual gambler (might slap a 20 down when i go out with mates) and i seriously couldnt be bothered to get a card and go through the effort. i'm sure that there are people in a similar situation. i'm pretty sure the hardcore gamblers will just put their limit at like some absurd amount, continue to gamble, and the casual guys will just be like meh fuck it.

i support pokies by the fact that it is darwinistic in the fact that it filters out those with a predisposed weak point in their rationality, making them poor and less likely to carry on their gene pool

seriously though people can't deal with life. they binge too much on food, too much on drugs, too much on pokies, too much on women. nanny state solution to everything.

It's hardly 'Darwinistic.' It filters those with and without a 'predisposed weak point in their rationality', i.e. it is no filter at all. And problem gambling also leads to broken households/failed families, giving children who may carry socially valuable random mutations a lower chance of propagating these worthwhile mutations. Darwinism is a horrible argument to support problem gambling.

I was watching Whitlams songs on youtube the other day and watched with some amusement as Tim played Blow up the Pokies on the Footy Show a few years back to rapturous applause.

one time i saw a taxi driver who had just knocked off work stick $2000 in three roulette machines in a row ($6000 all up) and just roll his face across the screen making bets.

am i supposed to feel apathetic towards someone like that? i mean, ban pokies, he goes and blows his $6k on the horses, or the stock market, or whatever. people's heads are programmed in certain ways, they're going to end up doing the same shit.
