For the Macquarie internships...
how do you get them? which commerce courses do you have to apply for?
is there any special requirements to get them? e.g. atar, interviews, extra-curricular activities because i wouldn't think that the 400+ people doing commerce at maq each year would be all offered internships!

Edit; which companises offer internships? PwC,E&Y,Deloitte,KPMG,GT <--any of these or is it all mid-tier firms??

THANKS ♥

I'm so confused. Are you talking about Macquarie University or Macquarie Group?

The units you are referring to are FBE200 and FBE300, both of these are participation units (this is a requirement for all degrees at Macquarie). To enrol in either of them, you will need to apply directly to BESS (Business and Economics Student Services) by the specified deadline. Each of these units also have a requirement for a certain number of credit points to be completed before you can apply. They are also available as a session 3 unit (i.e. over the summer break). You do have to find your own internship before applying for the unit.

As for finding the internships, it can be with any of the big companies e.g. the Big 4 which you have mentioned, small or mid-tier firms, they can also be any other company - e.g. think broadly, they can be ANY company, e.g. HR firms, retail businesses, consumer goods ~ anything. Internships can also be from organisations, e.g. NGOs or other such organisations. The key is to be proactive about your search, there are lots of resources to help you find your internship; e.g. Career Services (available online, on campus, and the service called "Careers Hub"), the Faculty of Business and Economics also posts new internship opportunities on its homepage (just look around at be.mq.edu.au), personally I find their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/businessandeconomics.mq the most up-to-date and they post internships and other job opportunities throughout the week.

If you have any other questions about FBE200/300 (I heard there will be another extra unit available later as well), I found my info here: http://www.businessandeconomics.mq.edu.au/undergraduate_degrees/internship_program and this page has links to the current unit outline for the subjects: http://www.businessandeconomics.mq.edu.au/new_and_current_students/undergraduate/how_do_i

You may also want to look at the Macquarie University section on BoS.

They are units that you pick, for example the FBE200 requires 24 credit points (meaning that you won't be able to do this until your second year of university when you have completed the required 24 credit points). Since you are doing your HSC, don't worry about these units yet, just know that they exist and that you would want to do them in your second year or later in your university degree. You will be able to do them as part of your B Commerce, after you get accepted and you enrol in your B Commerce at Macquarie, they will give you academic advice to help you pick your units.
