As I've mentioned several times before there is the Lifeline Book Sales held maybe 4 times a year at rotating venues, during the school holidays. The last one I went to was at Knox Grammar and the one before that at Thornleigh. You can get used and sometimes almost new text books and study guides and Success One past HSC papers. I got a 3U Fitzpatrick in very good condition for $3 although at the last one at Knox, prices were a dollar or 2 higher. I have even bought James Stewart's Calculus (a well-known Uni text costing over $100 new) for $5 Over the years I have bought some 40 to 50 books there. I think the next one will be held at Hunters Hill Town Hall Nov 12 & 13. Check with Lifeline 9498 8805. Do be early to not miss out.

Also maths lover: Get hold of a text or 2 (borrow first if you like) and do as much self-study for familiarisation. Doesn't matter if at 1st you understand only 5% or 20% or 50% or 80%. A head start always helps. You don't have to wait for your school to officially commence - they are constrained by Board of Studies directives whereas you are not.

Maths in Focus sucks. No joke.

Fitzpatrick...is generally a rip off, despite how good the 2U and 3U books are. It's not -that- great for 4U, in my opinion.
...we use Maths in Focus

What's wrong with MiF?
2/3u use Maths in Focus and then 4u use fitzpatrick, cambridge and terry lee at my school

I see, prehaps try this website: http://www.templebooks.com.au/books.aspx?Topic=Mathematics-Senior (Suggested by Funnytomato.)

What?
i must be suffering from memory loss :(

the prices are not that good anyways

Some recommendations:
http://booko.com.au/ , compares prices from a ranges of sources, esp. convenient when u know the ISBN

which often leads you to http://www.bookdepository.com/ NOTE: the price may vary every now and then( probably due to exchange rate? but it's much cheaper than bookshops anyways) and shipment often takes 2-3 weeks

if u don't mind 2nd hand ones, try http://www.textbookexchange.com.au (you'll need registration)

The 4U syllabus hasn't changed at all. It will remain how it is, just the format of the paper has changed from the implementation of multiple choice questions.
