Ok so was wondering if anyone could help me out

A security gate is opned by a 6-character code consisting of 2 letters from A to F follwed by 4 digits from 0 to 9 For example one possible code is DB4022
(I) How mant different codes are possible using this system?
(II) Rhys decides to try every possible code. If he works contionously and each code requires 5 seconds to key in, how many days will he take?

I got 15 for the first one but its probably wrong but can someone please help me out?

Many thanks :)

I) 6 x 6 x 9 x 9 x 9 x 9.
II) 6 x 6 x 9 x 9 x 9 x 9 x 5.

I think.

wait shouldn't it be 10 instead of 9 since there are 10 numbers including 0.

Obviously I had a bit of bad luck on the exam day and you had some good luck. But remember you did 4unit for hsc and had an advantage of seeing the material a whole year in advanced and you (possibly) beat me by only 1%, pretty piss poor!

Also you had the advantage (yes advantage) of doing MATH1141 with other maths subjects. I find maths subjects way easy than engineering subjects, if I were doing 4 maths subjects all in the same semester then I think I would get even better results for the maths subjects! Maths subjects are a lot more structured than engineering subjects , labs are a bit of an annoyance and pain! Maths subjects are just answering some set questions in the tutorial handout and you are done.

I did... MATH1141 with other maths subjects?

Last semester I did: ACCT1501, ECON1101, SCIF1121 and MATH1141. I don't see two or more maths subjects there...?

And m8, you had the opportunity to do Extension 2 Maths as well - but you didn't. So you shot yourself in the foot, so don't cry foul because you didn't take up the offer when it was offered to you.
