pfft people are expecting too much out of them

they are perfectly adequate for word processing and internet browsing/research which is all they should be needed for

most students will never need adobe creative suite (why is it even included?), what subjects in the SC/HSC even require it? if it ever was necessitated then schools would have dedicated workstations for them

consider the costs of giving every student more expensive shit and whether the gain (if any) is worth it

tbh i found the whole scheme pretty stupid from the start, my brother has one (in year 10 right now) and he says they rarely use them in class and when he does it's just to load a pdf of a textbook or something

as for households who can't afford a computer (srsly you can get one for $200 lol), the education tax rebate should be sufficient

I used mine in Yr 10 to play Robot Unicorn attack mainly, but detrimentally one note to take notes. One note is good, but the information sinks in better when you write and being able to type notes super fast gave me reason to slack all lesson.

In Yr 11, I barely use it at all. It's so slow and always is glitchy.

Bullshit. I disagree. The new computers have corei5s (quad core processor), 4 GBs DDR3 RAM, and some powerful integrated graphics chipset, that would run all multimedia applications today perfectly fine for basic school work.

Yet they are not allowed to run games, what a waste imo. They just get used for basic word editing. I mean who in this world is going to need a corei5 and 4 gb ram for word editing. -.- Such an overkill. But then again it has become the new standard.

Rudd should have known his old laptops need to be upgraded. the noob.

The new laptops have shit drivers / speakers for their audio. crackles like crazy.

^Well I hear the newer ones are much more reliable, compared to the first prototype I have where all the battery rails were faulty and then when they replaced that, they somehow damaged the motherboard *le sigh*

about two to three times as fast as the atoms in synthetic benchmarks

I never got a laptop. Yay.
My school is really shit.
But anyway, adobe photoshop is needed for the digital art part of visual art in years 9 and 10 and I think in year 7 and 8 too but you can do another elective instead so I don't think it's necessary.

My school definitely has corei5s and 4 GB DDR3 RAM modules as of May this year.

I sent my laptop for repair in Year 9 just because there was a tiny crack in the hinges! I haven't got it back since! I have had a loan laptop, that broke also. Ironically, I was the only one who has never played a game on my laptop.

They are crap. I haven't used it since mid year 10. Honestly i don't see a reason to use it.
