Mate I filled out like fifteen cadetship applications. Took me weeks and weeks. The co-op does not take that long nor is it that hard. But put it the time and effort and It might pay off.

ahaha but I'm not considering it as my primary uni, + I already got offered a place at another uni. So it's kinda un-motivating. And I'm not aiming for 96 Atar rofl.

I think that's why they make the Qs take time/thought so not just any person will apply, and they don't have to sift through tonnes of crappy applications, or waste time interviewing heaps of people.

I'm pretty sure they use the marks you supply to judge whether you would be able to get 96 atar, so it would be like the minimum 'qualification'.
And then from there they look at the extracurricular stuff and decide whether to give you an interview.
Then once you get to the interview stage its a matter of making an extremely good impression, and ensuring you get minimum 96 atar.

And then once you're in uni i think you need to keep a distinction average or you get kicked out.
So there's actually chances to apply in first year uni if you don't get it in year12

Honestly go for it,

it is the best decision you could possibly make, scholarship etc. are way harder to get into once you're in uni.

You should check the Co-Op schedule for how it runs. For example, for Software Co-Op guys it makes your degree an extra year longer. You get paid $16.5k~ a year to study, but have to forfeit your summer to your scholarship provider, except in fourth year where you have to work full time the whole year. You also need to maintain a credit average WAM (I actually think it's 65+ in all your courses).

$16.5k for a year's worth of full time work is extremely low wage and would be illegal in basically every industry. Personally I think it isn't worth it for Software/Comp Sci. I'm mates with the current Software Co-Op Scholar and he's a great student so he can get the marks, but I think he'll regret giving up his summers.

You're probably better off applying for the regular scholarships.

wow 16.5 k just for one year full time wtf and that's an extra year + takes up ur summer holidays But I heard UTS scholarship doesn't contain paid work experience for its 1 year of work experience in the B.I.T course. Although you do get 45 grand paid (scholarship money) gradually to you, e.g. $500 a fortnight. + It's only 2 years study and 1 year work (total of 3 years), then you can go work full time work with a standard salary.

Also I read that UNSW work experience is in 3 month intervals, UTS is in 6 month intervals.

I'm pretty sure they would pay more than 16.5k if you're working full time for a year..
