I'm considering a combined undergraduate engineering degree next year at UNSW. I want to know the significant differences between a Bachelor of Science majoring in Psychology (+1 honours year) and the standard Bachelor of Psychology. Appreciate the help :)

The most significant difference is that it's easier to get into the BSci. The BPsych has its perks, and you do a few more psychology subjects overall, but there's no advantage in terms of acceptance into honours.

I was under the assumption that it isn't possible to practice as a registered psychologist, without a four year undergrad plus any postgraduate degree. I'm considering the BSc because I can't do a combined degree with BPsych...and I really want to do Engineering at New South.

BSc gives you much more freedom to choose whichever subjects you feel fit, and still count toward the degree. BPsych is simply set out for you, although some people may prefer that. As said above, there is no preference for candidates being chosen for Honours.

If you want to do engineering then stick to engineering... waste of time if you going Psych.. Unless you into OH and S career.

I know the two degrees are unrelated but it also means that I have two seperate options when I graduate. However, wheb I pick one career, I probably can't change very easily...

B Psych you will die of stress because you have to keep a D average, also you automatically get honours year i THINK
B Sc (psych) you can relax a little but you arent guaranteed honours. In this event you would do something like a graduate diploma in psychology to make up your 4th year to become registered

Correct. That means BPsych or BSci with honours both are acceptable routes toward registration. If you're keen on both psychology and engineering, try them both through a combined degree. There's always the option of transferring into BPsych in second year if you so desire.

You're "automatically" given honours because an average of 75 is what is required to get in. If a BSci student wants to do an honours year they will similarly need to maintain an average of 75 in their psychology subjects.
