I'd say the biggest cause of Labor's unpopularity is that they knifed an highly popular first term prime minister in a move which was widely perceived to be nothing more than old union factions wresting back power for powers sake. In order to legitimize this move the government has been forced to distance itself from the agenda of the former Prime Minister which, like the former pm, was very popular. Why is the Tax itself making things worse? A part of it is the disinformation campaign on the part of part of Tony Abbott and his backers but largely because there are four or five mechanisms for pricing carbon and the other three or four have combined popularity much greater than the one the government has chosen.labor, but stop dodging the point: If a carbon tax is popular, why is labor support so low? And why does this decrease correlate with the announcement ofthe carbon tax?
right wing conspiracy theorists can't into revenue neutral taxThe tax is just a poorly veiled effort for wealth redistribution, masked as environmental policy.
except its going to cost $4bn????right wing conspiracy theorists can't into revenue neutral tax
...for nothing (?)small price to pay
Which will do nothing.no, to incentivize a lower greenhouse economy
Um have you ever heard of PRICES before?and also help prepare for the long term when fossil fuels start running out
It's gonna cost 4.3 billion, which is compounded by the lack of compensation for a number of high income earners.right wing conspiracy theorists can't into revenue neutral tax
You mean raise 4bnexcept its going to cost $4bn????
No, its going to raise much more than that. However after all the measures have been implemented, another $4 billion on top of the revenue will be spent. You mean raise 4bn
>increase priceWhich will do nothing.
Um have you ever heard of PRICES before?
Lol leftists act like "Oh welll you see one day we're going to abruptly run out of oil and coal and then the entire global economy will be ruined!"
implying China and some US states aren't already taking similar action? also it's 1.6% vs. 0.5% world populationoh im glad australia with its 1% of emissions world wide is going to make this big leap forward. never mind china/US.
nah but the greenies have to feel good about themselves when they are going to bed at night regardless of the fact that this is going to do nothing.
How? Do they go around threatening companies if they plan to make these investments?but considering fossil fuel companies actively fight investment in clean technology
Increasing scarcity > Increasingly higher prices > Increasingly larger profit potential for alternative energy > Investors attracted by profitwould you like to explain where else the technology to replace them is going to appear from?
sigh...no.You mean raise 4bn
I don't like this tax anymore, taxes are there to take money away from people and invest in what they don't want but ought to have. They are not supposed to give people back money.sigh...no.
The carbon tax will provide $4bn less than the bribes offered to keepeveryone happy over this retarded law
