all the tax is

people who are on Medicaid for illnesses caused by being overweight will be given a health regime by their doctor

if they dont follow it, they have to pay $50 or whatever

"Smokers and diabetics who ignore their medical advice would also have to pay."

anyone who is a (chronic) burden on state health care due to lifestyle choices are being targetted

its not saying you can smock or be fat its just saying that if you are and you want commie health care because of it then you have to do what the doctor says

i dont know how this has anything to do with personal freedom

its completely voluntary and dependent upon you being a recipient of government medicare which you can presumably opt out of at any time

dont wanna pay the fines fat boy well get off the government teat
Only managed to skim the article before and missed the bit where this is applicable to those receiving government medicare.

I thought the world was coming to an end.

this should have been done a long time ago

admittedly this doesnt go far enough in my view at all i think fatties/smokers/etc should just be utterly forbidden from receiving free healthcare altogether

Doesn't really sound like a ~terrible~ idea when reading things in context.

I guess the point they're trying to make is that if you're going to get health advice (which obviously costs $$$) and ignore it, you should probably pay it back. Whether or not this is actually going to make a difference in reducing obesity is very questionable.

Also, Ebony please come back, NCAP needs you. :(

or

you know

just abolish free healthcare (except emergency care i guess idk)

i earn like minimum wage and i pay for private health care

i have used it twice in 3 years, once for a $100 off a MRI and once for $200 off a new tooth becuz some cunt knocked it out

it angers me somewhat (heaps) that i subsidise useless cunts, children, mothers and old people because they get sick a lot more than me

i support free healthcare to a degree

free healthcare that perpetuates bad behavior and bad people (fatties, weaklings with hereditary ailments, etc.) however should be done away with

but you could argue
that most health problems are caused by lifestyle factors

cancer from being in the sun too much/working with certain chemicals etc
heart disease smocking, eating bad etc
broken bones from playing sport
where do you draw the line son

so it would make sense just to make it a user pays system

if you dont hurt yourself/minimise health risks then you dont pay

if you do because you smoke/are fat/drink etc and increase your chance of getting sick then you pay

i dunno cunt theres prob a lot of ailments n problems where its prob not dere fault or it cant really be identified anyway

i dont really want anybody slippin thru the cracks tbh free healthcare isnt that big a deal for me but there should be some restrictions on who is eligble for it

health insurance really isnt that expensive

no one would be slipping through the cracks, people on pensions would still have medicare i guess (fuck)

so i guess taxing the bad lifestyle choices that increase risk is the right way to go

so arizona is on the right track
