Lol, I stopped playing games since start of Yr 12. I gave in and played a few days ago because the HYs is stressful.
Tbh, games effectively minimise stress. Do it guys!

Hahaha, no way man. Like I've cut back a bit, but still spend a couple of hours a week on Dota, LoL, WoW. And recently haven gotten addicted to this new game called Amnesia, way freaky. I don't think I'll ever 'give-up' gaming, it's something I enjoy doing. So far, my marks and ranks have remained constant or improved, so I'm not experiencing any negative effects from the time away from school. Probably more beneficiary than an hindrance. [That is, if you're able to balance work and play, and have control over how much time you spend gaming / procrastinating.]

Played games like a boss all through the HSC. When I came home I figured 3 hours of Ps3 and 1 hour of study would be enough. Wasn't enough so I played 4 hours of Ps3 and 0 hours of study instead.

I dunno about your half yearlies but my half yearlies are a real joke. the exams have spelling mistakes, grammar errors, alignment errors and I think 1 question wasn't even fully written.

at the end of the day they're only worth like 15 - 25%, try not to burn out on shitty half yearly exams. still got plenty of worthy assignments in term 3 (term 2 of this yr), 30% trials and then 4 weeks after the ACTUAL 50% HSC exams.

I played CSS for like 4 hours, the night before my maths exam; I'm confident I got 100%

It all depends on what you want to achieve. Unless you are dead set in absolutely acing all of your subjects (and even then), I'm sure there will still be lots of time to play games. The HSC isn't that hard...

Like everyone said, it's all about balance.

Plus, Phoenix Wright is some pretty good legal studies review I guess.

If you're addicted to games like I am, compromise.

Make a realistic list of things you should do by the end of the day and get it all done. Then, game like there's no tomorrow. Repeat :)
