My teacher told the class not to rinse the conical flask with dilute water but my textbook says otherwise, which is correct?

we did it with distilled water..... :eek: what does your textbook say?

text book says to use distilled water but my teacher told me not to use distilled water...

You can rinse the conical flask with dilute water, as titation is concerned with the number of moles of the acid/base.... using distalled water will change the concentration of the solution, but it wont change the number of moles. Hence, distalled water can be used. (Note: Concentration is then calculated upon the number of moles- thats why its so important not to change the number of moles!!)

Or so i've come to believe....
