The atar cut off for medicine is 99 + for UNSW. People say if you do B Science or B Med. Science you can get into medicine after you finish the degree. For B science and b med science at UNSW is like 80-90 is someone who gets that atar and finish there degree..are they capable of doing med. Because since med is 99 + you obviously have to be smart but if you get 80-90 atar and do med thru b science / b med science u are basically very dumb compared to those 99 + people. Basically is there a good chance someone can get into Medicine through B science/adv science or B med science?

Not true. there's no such thing as an ATAR cut-off but obviously a higher ATAR will increase your chances of getting in. Remember that you must also do UMAT and interviews as well. There's the Med Science 2nd year entry into medicine which is REALLY competitive but if you're keen on doing medicine, give it a go. And yes you can get into medicine after completing your undegrad studies, but you still have to do GAMSAT (graduate version of UMAT) and interview as well.

A high ATAR that places you in the top few percent of the state is definitely something that comes naturally to entering into Medicine because it is a very competitive and demanding course. This said, a lot of the selection process is also based on your UMAT score and how much they like your character and personality in the interview.

the minimum is actually 95
and like what others are saying, a high atar just makes you more competitive in getting a spot

in saying that, I know someone who got 99.60 and didn't get into medicine because of crap interview and umat

This seems to be a problem for most people.
Is the interview just a personality thing where they talk about random stuff, or is it like medical stuff or what?

The interviews assess your interest in medicine, e.g 'Why do you want to study medicine?", "Why not Physio, Nursing, Social work?"

They also look at your personality, and ask questions about your experiences and how you have dealt with difficult situations. Medical stuff doesn't come up in an interview, but it is always best to be prepared, as they may ask you your opinion on current affairs.
