I'm finding parametric representation of the parabola to be difficult. I experience difficulty in eliminating the parameters to obtain the locus because my algebra becomes convoluted/way too many careless mistakes!!!

Just wondering if you guys could give me any tips or heads up on difficult maths topics in yr 11 maths extension 1.

Also what would you guys say is the hardest maths topics in yr 11 2 unit (I found annuities/compound interest with sequences and series hard)

Thx in advance guys and much appreciated

I always find series and sequences, permutations and combinations hard. Year 11 starts in under a week. :)

I didn't think perms and combs existed in year 11 mx1?.. or was that because my school did it differently

It's not in the Year 11 2 Unit syllabus. It's in the 3 Unit Year 11 syllabus.

Yea Permutation and combinations is hard. I think (and hoping!) it's part of the year 12 3 unit syllabus in our school.

Any pointers for parametric representation of the parabola guys? :/

You get tested on everything in year 11 and 12.

And yes, perms and combs suck balls. When they're in Q7 they fuck you up.

When you're doing parametrics, you've gotta be really carefully with your algebra, don't make any mistakes whilst working out cos it's a death trap, I know you shouldn't make mistakes in any other question, but when you've done 2 pages of working out, and you cannot figure out where you went wrong you'll wonna punch someone.

lol , like last years 3unit paper.

perms and combs can get tricky, but usually they are not too cruel and dont have many marks on them.

Also, remember that if it is Q7 then you are not the only person that will find it hard, dont stress if you cannot do those types of questions, yes dont completely ignore the topic, try your best to look through a reasonable variety of questions, but if you cannot do it move onto another question.

Holy shit, that was weird. It made no sense. I just sat there loling at it.

But remember, you don't need to answer much of 7, I didn't and I got 45 in the exam. But if you can, even better!
the majority of your 3unit marks will come from Q1-5 , if you can ace them you have done very well

Integration by substitution is my bitch.

lol thats pretty easy, in my opinion they SHOULD NOT give you the substitutions for 3unit. I know in 4unit they dont tell you the substitution, they should do the same for 3unit.

90% of the time the substitution is fairly obvious, basically "whatever is the most complicated part , you substitute" or thats how I kinda think of it

Indeed. It's pretty obvious lol but hell I don't mind.

For me hardest? Silly mistakes lol? Nah, probably perms and combs as well. >=(
