i know we're only into the 2nd year of this decade, but seriously the music is SO bad and i don't understand why. the people i used to rely on to tell me good songs to download are either out of my life or have converted to that electronic lady gaga shit currently on the radio, where every song is a ripoff of a very old song, with a generic shit dance beat added. pretty sure the devil possessed the radio at the beginning of 2010, using kesha as his gateway. its so sad to hear all this foul cacophony polluting our precious airwaves. i find myself listening to stuff mostly from 2000-2009, and only downloaded about 20 songs in 2010. please tell me im not the only one who feels this way.

I kinda agree too, the quality of music these days are becoming worse
I remember when I listened to Green Day back in 2005...
plus Chingy, Snoop Dogg, Justin Timberlake back around then..

I tend to find the songs made nowadays seem meaningless

2010 just seemed to be a year where music got shit... and even then, so did Chinese pop music, it's dying like heck overseas nowadays..
and it's kinda why the chinese forums on BOS are down right now

2006-2008 were some of the worst times for mainstream music IMO. It picked up a bit in 2009, mostly towards the end. Went down again toward the end of 2010.

NB: Compared to a lot of other stuff coming out, Gaga's not too bad. Granted, she's spawned numerous electropop imitators, but as an artist herself, she's done some good work.

i think 2008-2009 was the best time (iirc). i really want some ACTUAL RnB but that doesnt seem to be made anymore, not even by long-time RnB people like usher. i am disappoint, here's hoping he sings mostly old songs at his concert in march.

Usher has completely changed his sound. It's lost the 'soul' that it used to have.

1990's was decent for R&B. It's just slowly developed from there. Trying to think of artists recapturing this sound now, but none come to mind offhand...

Nightwish and Terasbetoni.
I have some trance/house etc and stuff if I don't want lyrics but when it comes to songs w/ lyrics 95%+ of what I listen to is just those two, I have a 4k+ song library (2k+ of which I haven't really/ever listened to).
Maybe this says a lot about the state of my brain...
