You can't solely blame the internet filter on the Australian Christian Lobby. They have power, but not that much. If they did have that much power then a lot more policies wanted by Christians would most likely be passed. Yeah, your probably right the PM has no bearings on party politics, which is why we should vote out this socialist Labor Government before their policies become anymore Communistic.
Lol, Labor aren't socialist at all.

Actually she is not. She is from the centre faction of the ALP (as in centre of the ALP, not centre of the political spectrum) known as the "Ferguson left" or the Soft left faction due to its being founded chiefly Jack Ferguson and his three sons Martin, Andrew and Laurie. It is a smaller, (albeit only slightly) newer faction than the older more powerful socialist left faction whose most prominent members are people like Tanner, Plibersek and Macklin.

It is the socialist left faction that likes things sensible, egalitarian policies like taxing mining companies and carbon polluters. The Ferguson left is all about the "Aussie battler", very union oriented and very unconcerned with the bigger picture. If a policy means losing jobs for their members they are against it. They are also very nationalist and imo, white australia oriented. It really formed out of the Whitlam era when Barnard, Whitlam and Cairns starting pushing the worldly, intellectual, multicultural stuff and the grumpy old community union folk wanted to take back some power in the caucas. Recall the socialist left (with a few stupid exceptions) opposed Gillard (and to a lesser extent) Latham's leadership bids.

Why bother with the National Broadband Network then, when the filter will slow down our net?

Dude if the ALP were socialist they would abolish capitalism. Just because they're in favour of unions and various social benefit schemes does not mean that they're socialist. If they were socialist, capitalism would be abolished. They're not socialist, they're pro-capitalist douchebags against marijuana legalisation and gay marriage, as well as being pro internet filter. A relatively small tax increase on super profits =/= killing bosses.

No they wouldn't. Not necessarily. A lot of socialist parties and socialist democracies exist today, especially in Europe and Latin America. Very few of them seek to abolish market economics.

man capitalism is a good thing, workers aren't exploited by bosses otherwise the average rents vs average wages over the past 500 years would have increased vs decreased.

Human capital's value has substantially increased versus land rents

take a look at the groups pushing for the filter, it is pretty self-evident what's going on here. once the infrastructure is there you can bet that those fundamentalist assholes from family first and the christian lobby would want x rated content filtered as well. this whole farce is embarrassing, this is what happens when you don't have a bill of rights that expressly limits the power of the government.

There's already good evidence to suggest that would be the case, e.g. see Aussie Christian Lobby Wants X, R-Rated Content Filtered Too

They're going to review the content that will be censored. It's almost as though someone on this site said on numerous occasions that the filter in its current form is a preliminary thing that will be tweaked considerably before anyone tries to implement it.
Actually Lentern, they're brushing it under the carpet without having to explicitly say so.

What will parliament look like in 12 months? A Greens balance of power. What would that mean? Internet censorship wouldn't pass the senate.
