Hmm

My half yearly reports were pretty gud xD

English Advanced - 98% (1/73) xD (Our average was 80% as well and we only hav done 2 assessments so far)
English Ext 1 - 88% (1/20) (Average was 82%)
Ancient History - 87% (5/27) :S
Legal Studies - 91% (=1/25) :p
Economics - 66% (2/27) - I hate this subject, i'm so badly dropping it. Why am I coming 2nd without trying or studying. FML
Mathematics - 94% (8/83) - Meh
Mathematics Ext 1 - 86% (29/77) ~
Studies of Religion 1 - 99% (1/136) :)

My basic advice to you for English is: If your doing an essay in the exam --> DON'T DO THE ESSAY ON THE SPOT!! Have a Preplanned essay that you've memorized, done a few times, asked the teacher about etc. Make sure you answer the question though, so you might need to improvise

For Legal Studies: READ THE TEXTBOOK AND WRITE OUT NOTES. This is the best way I find to learn. I read textbook then right out heaps of notes on it. But make them notes that you will remember. Not heaps of notes, not a lot. Maybe a few sentences, a few definitions here and there etc.

It seems to me that your strength lies in maths and the sciences - not the written and spoken word. Maybe you might want to spend more time working on the subjects you are weaker at.

All the best :p
hmm not really
i seem to suck at science...
and if you actually read my marks, the best is maths and the worst is physics...
you know, most people were like WTF when they heard about this...

I think the reason why I'm good at maths is coz i 'get it' but then can't explain stuff...
and sometimes those hunches are within me
so yeah...

but in the other subjects like modern and legal, i have interest in them so i generally do well...

As for english, the task was a listening task, and it was rather straight forward..., therefore the avg was high and i got ranked nearly last (like half of the grade got 80% >_<)

anyway, you have great marks there =D

keep it for now, you're coming 2nd after all. I performed abysmally in prelim eco, im doing substantially better for eco hsc. I found them rather different.. you might enjoy it in the future, i dno

Our class was told that a big chunk of the half yearly exam didn't count at all towards our HSC assessment. So we skipped it. Turns out it did count, and the most heavily as well.

Last year, the whole 15 mark creative story didn't count at all, but nobody skipped it because they weren't 'warned'. We were 'warned', then backstabbed.

wow that sucks so much lol. Take it up to the principal if you have proof. Get your whole class to appeal for it or something.

The head teacher.... I raged. Thing is, we like our teacher and we don't want to get her in trouble because she helps us so much with extra marking etc.

If she hadn't said anything, we would not have skipped that part of the exam, and I wouldn't have been dragged down so much.

Oh well, shit happens.

Ahh exactly one more week till I get my reports. :( I really want this specific award awarded to the person who comes 1st the most in the 1st semester.

Yes except I want both awards for 1st and 2nd semester. LOL. 2nd semester= $50 book voucher. Whilst 1st semester= $25 book voucher. I don't really go for the book vouchers even though they are a nice bonus but I go for the pride of getting these awards. Anyway these awards motivate me to try harder.

Mid-course results!

HSC Ancient History - 12/71 (82%)
Advanced English - 1/36 (90%)
Studies of Religion II 1/21 (94%)
Modern History - 3/38 (92%)
German Beginners - 1/13 (90%)
General Maths - 14/211 (82.5%)

Reasonably happy with this report. Ancient and Maths could be better, and slightly peeved about a couple other ranks due to the closeness of the marks, but oh well! Not too much to complain about. :)

Hope all of you are pleased with your own!
