when i have kids, im going to raise them completely opposite to how my dad raised me

like i wont emotionally abuse them and tell them they're shit and ugly etc. im not going to put bars on their windows, i'll let them to go out with their friends and go to parties and i wont force them to not have a boyfriend until they get married, probably wont raise them with much religion either (ill let them choose whether they want to be religious or not)

and im going to support them in whatever career choice they make (except obvs things like drug trafficking and prostitution)

and hopefully they will grow up to be happy, sane adults that make an overall positive contribution to the world, whether it be big or small. :)

if i ever find someone and get married, that is.

mystify- I really dont think thats true. I think a lot of people have kids without really giving a shit about parenting style and they just copy their parents and make the world shit

its true

shit bogan alcoholics mated, neglected their kids/couldnt care less about them, and now what we have is the lad/bogan problem, particularly in sydney's greater west.

i really dont want to be like how my dad was to me, because that'd mean id ruin 2 or 3 kids' lives and i cant imagine what it would be like to hurt my own child

i dunno. i really want to, but i'd miss my mum :( (she is sane btw, awesome lady)

also i have no money, i have a job but it doesn't pay enough to cover rent, living expenses etc and theres no way in hell dad will provide any financial support
and if i did move out id move closer to uni, meaning id have to quit my current job and find a new one (because i live like 1.5 hrs away from uni by train)

arghhh thats terrible
I'm moving away for uni next year but my mum will actually provide financial support (dad doesnt work and he just mooches off her so i guess thats one good thing about him- never need to ask him for anything)

kaz1 you better be joking MATE.

the only reason id ever punish my kids (punish, not beat) would be drug use

you are soo lucky. where are you moving?
unfortunately my dad is the sole breadwinner, so i get zero financial support.

and yeah id punish my kids for obvious things like drugs, gettin knocked up, etc
but not beat them. i wouldnt lay a finger on my kids- except like a tiny little slap on the wrist or on their backside (which doesnt even hurt) for doing something naughty as a toddler lol.
