who's got them back already?

So far I've got extremely shit for english, even though it was only one assessment task had been counted at the time...

english adv - 60%; (avg 80%) -> ranked nearly at the bottom >_<
maths - 93% (avg 67%)-> ranked 9/136
maths ext 1 - 73% (avg 50%)-> ranked 5/63 =D
physics - 56% (avg 60%) -> 46/70 (dropping this sub by the end of term 3 :p)
legal studies - 68% (avg 74%) -> 29/42 (screwed over assessment task :/)
Modern History - 85% (avg 70%) -> 8/55 =D
Music 2 - 84% (avg 68%) -> 5/18 :p

any ideas on how to improve english and legal studies?

and btw how'd everyone else go?

A couple of suggestions:
1. Don't focus on the rank (I know it's important in the final scheme of things, but focussing on the end result will not help at the moment)

2. Try and improve on where you are at now. What lost you the most marks? Essays? Poetry? Analysis? Creative writing? Whatever it was then focus on improving that section by practicing, or asking your teacher for help in tht area.

One thing that really helped me improve my English was just doing crosswords - yep, fun stuff! And Cryptic Crosswords at that. Any word games are good because expanding your word power improves what you sound like in an essay and gives you more tools to work with as you write.

Also, read for fun and read good, well written books, not trashy stuff. Mimic their style in your creative writing.

2. Legal studies - again, what pulled you down? Something you could think about is: are their set types of questions or scenarios that they ask essay questions on? If so, work out a mnemonic to make sure you include all relevant points in those essays: eg, if I were to write an essay on the treatment of an ankle injury I would remember RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation). You can make up your own for whatever you need.

Last of all, don't stress. Everyone has weaknesses in one area. Mine was English (and German) when I excelled at Maths and Sciences. It's OK to be average or bottom sometimes - someone has to be. But just try and do YOUR personal best and don't compare yourself to the person who happens to be gifted in your bad subject (gosh if I had done that, I would have killed my best friend, because she was ace at English and all languages, but I was mariginally better at Maths and Sciences. She beat me in the HSC by only 4 marks!)

Oh, and not everyone can be first. So, don't stress about that, either.

Hope that helps.

Went up 34 places overall in the grade. Best was probably 22nd/115 for Eco so i'm pretty happy. Fucked up 2U English pretty badly (158/180) but meh.

wahh hey who are you? :L
whoa theres like 60 students doing 3U?
there was like 15 ppl who left and i though thered only be 50 ppl in the end...
and i was one of them...

despite the fact that ryde was 60th last year, it's gonna go down this year and even worse next year (imo)
god man i heard the yr 11's like so shit...
mr black was fed up with all of the trouble that the current yr 11 are with atm :L

nevertheless blackwattle's maths has been the worst in history, but not much worse than the previous years...
so many people dropping outta 3U maths :L

well clearly you're not taking math 2 unit seriously. Don't know why you're asking for advice on 'how to improve your 2 unit mark' especially with that 3 unit mark and rank.
