sup?

Have you guys experienced that you memorize something for a test only to forget it two weeks later and have to re memorize for the final or midterm? I mean seriously though, sometimes I think whats the point in learning this material if I'm only going to forget it shortly afterwards...why go through all these various classes (besides the fact that they have to be taken to graduate :) )? Anyone found anything that can improve memory to such a degree that we memorize and then we easily retain without much effort? frankly, poor memory sucks....

Nothing's going to help you here. It's just how the brain works.

LOL i totally agree with you there, i memorise an entire essay (OR TWO!) for an exam and the very next day you can ask me and i wont be able to remember a thing.... not very educational in my opinion but i guess thats just me

I think you should try recording yourself and playing that back - it kind of works, if you dont mind your own voice

Maybe get your mum to do it or something that would be funny.

seriously go to a mirror, or a friend/parent and TEACH them wat u want to study.

it seriously helps so much when you say it out loud, and ont just read notes/memorise;

for me anyways

But i find my meory works best medium/long term, like If I hear it being taught, go over it later, that helps.

Yepp, used to happen to me all the time. I'll memorise some of my notes/whatever, and then you can ask me and I'll be able to tell you. However, just after the exam, if you ask me, I'd be like - wth you on about? :D

Welll...I have found something that I think is worth sharing with others. After much debate and deliberation and skepticism I decided that I'd give it a shot and yes your right, it is a method of memorizing large amounts of data in a much more retainable fashion: Its called GMS systems (FINALLY A SYSTEM OF MEMORIZATION AND NOT JUST RANDOM MNEMOICS!) and the website is this: www.pmemory.com/home. Before I began I downloaded the their free manual to see what what the entire system was built around and well the manual is quite lengthy and goes into deep theory behind the GMS systems foundations. The very first lesson showed me that I could memorize the exact material they promised me. I memorized 4 lists of 25 items and I could recite them forwards and backwards!!! It made me ecstatic! If I could do that on the 1st lesson, then I just wonder what I can do on subsequent lessons :) !

seriously though....give me a heads up on what you guys think

well you're OBVIOUSLY a mutual third party giving your genuine opinion and definitely NOT a company trying to sell us shit.

hahahahahaaaa u reminded me of myself actually loll.. since i was in year 7 i had so much problems memorzing ect.. but wen it came to year 10 (the school certificate) i started memorzing my stuff each night... i know, i know its boring buts thats the way i actually got good marks and trust me it makes a huge difference.. another way u can improve your memory is when u read the question, answer, story, essay, speech ect create an image in your mind to help you remember.. this also has helped be throughout my school years.. and still is.. good luck in memorzing!!!! :)

The best way to memorise things, in my opinion, is to actually understand fully exactly what it is that you are doing, rather than just memorise.

There are other sorts of memorising techniques, though, that play off your learning style.

You need to know what your learning style is, first, and then utilise that.

For me, I find that if I write something in note form, making suummaries, connections, flow charts and such, draw pictures (being a visual person - ie think in pictures) I remember things better.

Another technique I read about some time ago was to study each subect with a particular smell around. Then take a hanky or something like that into the exam with you that has that smell. eg Maths could be Lavender, English could be rose, science Vicks vapour rub and so on.

But understanding a method is the best memorising technique (and learning the art of essay writing on the spot, rather than memorising one essay is even better).

Fail. with a capital F

I went to the TSFX lecture, and they gave us a quiz on our learning style, i think they had 3, the funny thing is i got almost equal for each learning style /9there was an odd number, but pretty much equal, that was such a put off :(

1. Money
2. Reading

Pretty much will take too much time, which there isnt enough of anyway.

And you have to read and understand the stuff to get it to work (by the looks of it)

(I only had a quick look at the site)

well....anything that takes money and effort tells you that its probably worthwhile right? Sure it might be a little difficult in the beginning....but seriously if it can live up to its claim "have the ability to memorize entire books by the end of the course or your money back" then don't you think its worth putting in some time to read at least what it says?
