A P-plate driver has been charged and has had his licence suspended after being caught travelling at 249km/h in a 100km/h zone in Sydney's southwest.
Police were conducting speed enforcement duties on the M5 motorway at Moorebank when they detected a Holden sedan travelling at 249km/h early on Sunday morning.
Police stopped the vehicle and spoke to the 26-year-old male driver, who produced a P2 licence.
He was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving, speeding and not displaying P-plates.
He's due to appear at Liverpool Local Court on April 15.
P2 drivers are limited to 100km/h.

usually i don't care about speeding on the m5, but 249 is a bit extreme.

instead of cops having to see and type in your number plate, now they have a camera that instantly regocnises number plates and runs them through a database

yeah, i agree with shane. why would you stop if your car is capable of driving at 249 km/h. it must be a pretty high powered car.

im pretty sure their top speed these days is around 260-270
he would be sitting 800-500 revs off the limiter imo

It shows how ridiculously low our speed limits are
Every week theres a story about someone caught speeding on the M5
This is a damn good road, we should be able to drive at 130-140

Obviously 250 is extreme

It also shows how ridiculously high car speeds are. They should not be designed to go that high in the first place.

N/A
and you are a fucking retard
No.
I think all he's suggesting is that cars accessible to the general public should not have the capacity to attain such speeds..
how's that retarded in anyway?
I mean..what possible harm could that do?
